Sigma Prima Geoengineering

GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES

Looking for a geotechnical engineer with vast experience with ground conditions and Council’s requirements around the Taupō and Ruapehu areas?  If the answer is yes, please contact us.

WHY US

Having lived and practiced geotechnical engineering / geology in Taupō and Ruapehu for the last 12 years gave us the required experience and understanding of the complex behavior of volcanic derived soils to provide suitable inputs for the completion of sustainable landmarks for our clients.

EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALLY QUALIFIED GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER REQUIERED?

The engagement of a consultant with local knowledge about ground conditions and Council’s requirements is paramount to successfully complete a project, particularly within the Taupō / Ruapehu areas where issues with developing land on unique volcanic derived soils are very likely to occur.

Shortage of local qualified and experienced geotechnical engineers within the Taupō / Ruapehu areas, together with ongoing Council’s rules changes, have recently generated new consenting issues for applicants. As a result, now it is very common to see both overpriced ground testing campaigns and unsuitable /costly foundation designs from consultants out of Taupō / Ruapehu.

OUR TEAM

Angela M. Prieto
Geologist, MSc, PhD

My main interests are energy sources and sustainability.

I support our projects related with active landscapes where building can compromise or been compromised by land stability or resources sustainability.

I’ve enjoyed the work in reservoir characterisation, to improve our understanding and use of geothermal, groundwater, and O&G resources, including ground-source heat for heating and cooling.

You could find me working around Taupō and Ruapehu. I have enjoyed many projects all around the North Island, mostly in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Hawkes Bay regions.

I particularly enjoyed taking part in the reconstruction of Christchurch , where I completed a number of investigations related to liquefaction issues.

Working overseas, my main focus was on risk assessment and remediation in active landscapes.
